Meet Mara

I learned clothing care
one small mistake at a time.

Hi, I’m Mara, the writer and editor behind Tend & Thread.

I did not grow up knowing how to read every care label, repair a loose seam or choose the right response to a stain. Like many people, I learned slowly—often after shrinking something I liked, hanging a knit the wrong way or realising that a missing button was much easier to fix than I had imagined.

The more I learned, the more I noticed that clothing care is often explained as if everybody already understands the basics. Tend & Thread was created to make those basics feel approachable.

These guides bring together clear explanations, useful visuals and small skills designed for ordinary clothes and real homes. There are no rigid wardrobe rules and no expectation of perfect repairs. The aim is simply to help you understand the next sensible step.

Because when care feels manageable, the clothes you already own become easier to keep, wear and enjoy.

Questions

Before you buy.

Are these guides suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. The collection assumes no previous knowledge of garment care or sewing. Terms, tools and decisions are introduced in clear steps.

Are these physical books?

No. Every Tend & Thread guide is a digital PDF. Nothing will be shipped to your address.

How will I receive my files?

Download instructions will appear after checkout and will also be sent to the email address used for your order.

What can I use to read the guides?

PDF files can be opened on most phones, tablets and computers using a standard PDF reader.

Can I print them?

You may print pages for your own personal use. The files may not be resold, redistributed, uploaded or shared publicly.

Do I need special sewing equipment?

No. Mend It Yourself begins with a small basic repair kit and explains what each item is for.

Will every stain come out?

No guide can guarantee that. Results depend on the stain, fabric, previous treatment and time. Always check the care label, test in a hidden area and use a professional cleaner for valuable, delicate or uncertain garments.

Can I buy the guides separately?

Yes. Each guide is available individually, and all four are also available in The Complete Clothing Care Collection.

Can I share the download with someone else?

Purchases are licensed for the buyer’s personal use. Please do not copy, resell or distribute the files.

What if I have trouble accessing a file?

Contact customer support with the email address used for the order and the order number. We will help resolve access or file-delivery problems.
